Gonatopus iranicus Olmi, 1984: 1523 . Type locality: Iran, Zanjan Province, 8 km NE of Ziaran (♀ holotype, NMNHP).

Description (♀). Apterous ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 ), length 5.6–7.2 mm. Color. Head black, except yellow mandible, clypeus and malar space; antenna black, except partly yellow scape and pedicel; mesosoma and metasoma black; legs black, except yellow–brown chela, mesotibia and meso- and metatarsus. Head. Antenna clavate; antennomeres (specimen from Greece, Kattavia), in following proportions: 14:8:32:23:17:15:12:11:11:14; head excavated, shiny, granulate; occipital carina absent (in specimen from Greece, Kattavia); POL = 3, OL = 2.5, OOL = 13; palpal formula 6/3. Mesosoma ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ). Pronotum crossed by strong transverse impression, shiny, with disc unsculptured, smooth, and anterior collar and lateral regions granulate; mesoscutum shiny, with strong longitudinal keels, laterally with two pointed apophyses; mesoscutellum shiny, smooth; metanotum shiny, sculptured by transverse elliptic keel, hollow behind scutellum; metapectal-propodeal complex shiny, with anterior surface slightly granulate and posterior surface transversely striate; mesopleuron and metapleuron transversely striate; meso-metapleural suture distinct and complete; protarsomere 1 (Holotype) about twice as long as protarsomere 4; protarsomeres (specimen from Greece, Kattavia), in following proportions: 24:5:8:25:40; enlarged claw with one small subapical tooth and four bristles; protarsomere 5 with inner margin proximally serrated, with two rows about 32 lamellae extending beyond 0.5 length of segment; distal apex with about 17 lamellae and more than five longer lamellae; tibial spurs 1/0/1. Male. Unknown.

Material examined. Holotype ♀ ( NMNHP), IRAN, Zanjan Province, 8 km NE of Ziaran, 2400 m, 10– 16.VII.1977, Loc. No. 400, Exped. Nat. Mus. Praha; 1 ♀ ( OLL), GREECE, Rhodes Island , Kattavia, 8.VII.1969, near the beach at the foot of the mountain.
