Orbella exceptio Bérenger, 2007 View in CoL

Discussion. The absence of parameres was considered a generic character for Orbella (Maldonado 1987) . Bérenger (2007) showed that O. exceptio is the only species of the genus to have parameres (Figs. 26–27). Males of O. exceptio can further be distinguished from other species in the genus by the rim at the posterior border of the pygophore (Figs. 26–27). The specimens examined by Berénger (2007) showed black submedian rings on the hind femora that are absent in the examined male, although the structure of the male genitalia are identical.

Distribution. Bérenger (2007) described O. exceptio from French Guiana. The specimen examined below represents a new record for Brazil (Amazonas).
