( Figs. 12–14 View FIGURES 6–14 )

Helluodes westwoodi Chaudoir, 1869: 203 .

Head. Labrum very large, as wide as long, anterior margin distinctly emarginated in the middle, with a row of 6 marginal setae. Maxillary palpomere 4 flattened, short, inflexed medially and internal surface with distinct, deep puncture; roundly expanded from basal one third, roundly narrowed at apex. Mentum with bifid median tooth. Ligula elongate, setose with four elongated apical setae, three lateral seta on either side; distinctly broader in the middle.

Pronotum. Large and slightly wider than head; less densely pubescent and sparsely punctate on disc; apical angles protruded, expanded, flexed inwardly, more rounded and slightly acute on summit; anterior and posterior transverse sulci shallow; lateral margins widely explanate, distinctly sinuated anterior to posterior angles or at some distance from base; posterior angles expanded, reflexed strongly and sharp at apex; basal foveae deep and wide, stretching forward as deep lateral furrows; base narrower than apex, distinctly oblique laterally, weakly sinuated medially.

Elytra. Apices obliquely truncate with wide membranous margins; outer angles sinuate; elytra with intervals sparsely punctate and pubescent, lateral edges broad.

Legs. Short, front tibiae emarginated at apex.

Venter. Punctate-pubescent except the glabrous posterior area of prosternum. Sternites 3 to 6 in male and female with one pair of paramedian setae.

Genitalia. As for genus.

Measurements. Male (n=2), TLA = 26.5 and 27.5; TLB = 24.0 and 25.0; TW = 8.5 and 10.0; PL = 3.0 and 4.0; PW = 6.0 and 7.0; EL = 14.0 and 15.0. Female (n=2), TLA = 25.0 and 26.0; TLB = 22.0 and 23.0; TW = 9.0; PL = 3.2; PW = 5.5; EL = 14.0 and 14.5.

Specimens examined (n=4). Male labeled “Ex-Musaeo Chaudoir” / “westwoodii Chaud. Deccan, S. Stevens ” (designated as Lectotype in the present work); 1 female with the same label as that of Lectotype, and 1 male and 1 female labeled “ Ceylon ”. All specimens are in the Chaudoir collections of MNHN.

Distribution. South India (Deccan), Sri Lanka (exact locality in both regions unknown).

Remarks. Distinct from other two species with distinctly emarginate labrum; ligula broader in the middle; pronotum with rounded but slightly acute anterior angles, raised lateral margins with distinct sinuation anterior to posterior angles.
