Guerichiella View in CoL sp. P1

(Pl. I: Fig. 5)

2013 Guerichiella sp. P1; Maillet: 45, pl. IV, fig. 13.

Material. 2 specimens (2 C).

Description. Medium-sized preplete carapace. Hmax median; Lmax at 2/5 dorsal; Wmax slightly posterior. Straight hinge line and dorsal margin. Anterior cardinal angle of about 100°. Posterior cardinal angle of about 85°. Anterior margin regularly convex. Posterior margin slightly convex and oblique anteriorly from the posterior cardinal angle. Ventral margin regularly convex. Adductorial sulcus deep and marked. Carapace globally inflated, with a posterior truncation at 1/6 of Lmax from the posterior margin. Flat posterior part backwards this truncation. Marginal flattening of the valves at free margins of the carapace. Surface smooth.

Discussion. Despite being badly preserved, these specimens show a marked mid-dorsal sulcus and a posterior truncation of the carapace characteristic of Guerichiella . They may be close to G. praecurrens Becker & Sánchez de Posada, 1977, without certainty.

Occurrence. Middle Givetian (Candás Fm, mb C), Asturias (Peran-Perlora section).
