Remarks. 1. In the original description, Walker (1854) mentions numerous specimens from various localities, which are syntypes. Hampson (1900) cited as ‘type’ specimens from Ceylon. In order to stabilize the nomenclature, we designate the specimen from Ceylon ( Sri Lanka) deposited in NHMUK and labeled as ‘type’ as lectotype, and fix the species’ type locality as Ceylon. 2. Singh et al. (2019b) described a form of C. peregrina , which is lacking the chocolate colour patch on hindwing.

Diagnosis. Forewing length is 11–12 mm in males and 13–13.5 mm in females. Cyana peregrina is a sister species of C. catorhoda . Both species are variable in their forewing shape and width of forewing transverse lines and can be separated by the genitalia structures. In the male genitalia of C. peregrina , the valva is slightly broader than that of C. catorhoda , and the distal diverticulum is smaller and membranous (larger and granulated in C. peregrina ). The female genitalia of C. peregrina are similar to those of C. catorhoda , but can be distinguished by the larger appendix bursae and longer band-like signum.

Distribution. Sri Lanka ( Hampson 1900), South and East India ( Singh et al. 2014). The records for Thailand and Cambodia ( Černý & Pinratana 2009; Bayarsaikhan & Bae 2016) belong to C. catorhoda .
