Etymology. The specific name is a patronym in honor of arachnologist Dr. David F. Candiani who contributed greatly to the knowledge of Neotropical Castianeirinae during his time at the Museu Goeldi.
Diagnosis. Both males and females of Myrmecotypus candianii spec. nov. resemble those of M. ednae spec. nov. by the elongate thoracic region (twice the length of cephalic region), coxa I light brown and coxa II white, but differ by the absence of an RTA and the embolus short and folded (compare Figs 18G, H View FIGURE 18 and 19G, H View FIGURE 19 ). Females differ by the epigynal transverse ridge procurved, with a small marginal sclerotized area (compare Fig. 18I View FIGURE 18 and 19I View FIGURE 19 ).
Description. Male (holotype). Total length 6.08. Carapace 3.54 long, 1.24 wide. Sternum 1.69 long, 0.59 wide. Abdomen 2.34 long, 1.74 wide. Eye diameters: AME 0.11, ALE 0.05, PME 0.07, PLE 0.08.
