The new species differs from Puccinia campanulae , P. campanulae-scheuchzeri , P. rytzii , P. campanulae-herminii and P.

novae-zembliae by having a persistent pedicel up to 120 μm long, the teliospore wall is smooth or slightly rough and thickened at the apex up to 9 μm and teliospores are constricted at the septum.

Type: — TURKEY. Malatya: Kale, Akuşağı village, east slopes, 2100 m, on Campanula stevenii subsp. beauverdiana (Fomin) Rech.f. & Schiman-Czeika ( Campanulaceae ), 5 June 2013, Ş. Karakuş 4232 ( INU 2014-12553).

Etymology: — Malatya where the rust samples were collected is a province in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. Name of the province comes from Hittite word “Melit” meaning “honey”. The name was mentioned in Kültepe tablets as “Melita”, in Hittite documents as “Maldia” and in Assyrian Imperial documents as Meliddu, Melide, Melid, Milid or Milidia. Urartian resources refer to it as Melitea ( Kinal 1998).

Spermogonia, aecia and uredinia absent. Telia amphigenous and on petioles, elongated on petioles, covered by the epidermis, up to 10 mm long on petioles, blackish. Teliospores 35–44 × 17–25 μm, ellipsoid, rarely oblong, rounded at both ends, sometimes attenuated, constricted at septum, pore at apex in upper cell, close to the septum in the lower cell, wall brown, 1–2.5 μm thick at sides, up to 9 μm at apex, smooth or slightly rough, pedicel hyaline, persistent, up to 120 μm long. Basidia not seen.
