The only record of this elusive armadillo at Paracou is an infant specimen (with unopened eyes) excavated by a bulldozer when a tract of welldrained primary forest was being cleared for a new experimental plantation; forestry workers brought the animal to P. Petronelli (personal commun., 1993), who showed us the photographs he had taken of it.
