Exochus argutus Tolkanitz, 1993

( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 )

Material examined. Holotype: male, UKRAINE, Donetsk Region: Khomutovskyi Steppe Reserve , 18.vi.1985, leg. N. Narolsky (deposited in: SIZK).

Diagnosis. Exochus argutus is characterized by the combination of the following characters: face not strongly swollen; malar space, face and clypeus laterally yellow; frons black; yellow mark opposite to lateral ocelli not elongated; clypeus with apical margin straight; occipital carina? present dorsally (hardly visible); meso- and metasoma black; propodeum with costulae present; fore wing with vein cu-a opposite to Rs&M; third laterotergite? straight from the proximal end, wedge-shaped (hardly visible); legs generally yellowish-red except coxae black dorsally, yellow ventrally.

Distribution. Currently known from Belarus, Germany, Hungary, Mongolia, Russia (European part, Zabaykalsky Krai, Sakhalin Region), Ukraine ( Tolkanitz 2007a).

Remarks. Some of Exochus species have sharply banded occiput which looks like occipital carina depending of source of stereomicroscope light, angle of observation and magnification degree. Thus, couplet 65 of the key of Tolkanitz (2007a) can not be always interpreted correctly, probably even by the author of the key.
