Coccophagoides Girault View in CoL View at ENA

Coccophagoides Girault, 1915: 58 View in CoL . Type species Coccophagus abnormicornis Girault, 1915 View in CoL , by original designation.

Diagnosis. A generic diagnosis was given by Hayat (1998: 236), but that diagnosis includes also some characters of Diaspiniphagus . Coccophagoides is restricted to species that differ from Diaspiniphagus in the following characters: scutellum with 6 setae; each axilla with 2 setae ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 8. 1 – 4 ) (in one species, C. orientalis (Agarwal) , some specimens have only one seta on one axilla or one seta on both axillae); fore wing with parastigma long, about half length of marginal vein; marginal vein short, usually not longer than 0.5 of costal cell ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 8. 1 – 4 ). Female gaster with 8 tergites; T VII band-like, lateroventrally continuous with or connected to outer plates of the ovipositor ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 8. 1 – 4 ); hypopygium extending to or nearly to apex of gaster. Male genitalia with a short (about 2 as long as broad), basally narrowed, phallobase, and without parameres or digiti, but with a plate probably representing the fused digiti ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1 – 8. 1 – 4 , reproduced from Hayat, 1998: Fig. 864).

Comments. Coccophagoides is mainly Australian (5 species), with one species described from Japan (and recorded from China) and two species from the Oriental region ( India, Pakistan).
