( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 , 6C–6D View FIGURE 6 )

Type material examined. HOLOTYPE, ♂: IRAN, Tehran, in a pool at 18 Delauix Street , (35°41’21.11”N, 51°23’20.31”E, 1167 m), 04–06.viii.l977, J. T. Huber coll., det. M. Olmi in 1996, Type No. 23667, specimen ID: CNC957730 View Materials , CNC. GoogleMaps

Diagnosis. Dorsal membranous process of paramere only with bristles, apically without papillae ( Fig. 6D View FIGURE 6 ); fore wing with second cubital (2Cu) cell enclosed by pigmented veins ( Fig. 5B View FIGURE 5 ).

Redescription (Male). Macropterous. Body length 1.5 mm.

Head. Antenna filiform, articulated to prominent contiguous processes, and apically thin, shorter than head, ratio of antennomeres: 7:3:6.5:7:6:6:5.5:5.5:5:7 ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ); antennal toruli far from basal margin of clypeus; head shiny, smooth, unsculptured, covered with sparsely short setae, in lateral view dorsally swollen ( Fig. 5D View FIGURE 5 ); face with two convergent, hardly visible, incomplete longitudinal and median sutures from clypeus to antennal toruli ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ); frons with median and weak furrow between antennal toruli ( Fig. 5E View FIGURE 5 ); occipital carina complete ( Fig. 5D View FIGURE 5 ); ocelli distinct, POL: 2, OL: 2, OOL: 4, OPL: 2, TL: 4; eye large, approximately 0.4 × head length ( Fig. 5E View FIGURE 5 ); palpal formula 3/2.

Mesosoma . Pronotum shiny, short, covered with short setae, crossed by strong transverse impression, without lateral carinae and median longitudinal furrow, basal collar hidden under head, pronotum much shorter than half of mesoscutum ( Fig. 5F View FIGURE 5 ); notaulus and parapsidal signum absent ( Fig. 5F View FIGURE 5 ); anteromesoscutum and mesoscutellum shiny, smooth, unsculptured, finely covered with short setae ( Fig. 5F View FIGURE 5 ); mesoscuto-mesoscutellar suture indicated by deep continuous furrow ( Fig. 5F View FIGURE 5 ); metanotum shiny, smooth, unsculptured ( Figs 5F–5G View FIGURE 5 ); mesopleuron and lateral area of metapectal-propodeal complex shiny, weakly rugose, meso-metapleural suture distinct and complete ( Fig. 5I View FIGURE 5 ); metanotum short, transverse, unsculptured ( Figs 5F–5G View FIGURE 5 ); metapectal-propodeal complex smooth, shiny, with spiracles normally prominent, partly unsculptured, weakly rugose with some irregular striae only near metanotum, lateral areas, and apically, metapectal-propodeal disc and propodeal declivity with incomplete median longitudinal carina (basally reaching metanotum and apically reaching petiole) ( Fig. 5G View FIGURE 5 ).

Wings ( Fig. 5B View FIGURE 5 ). Fore wing hyaline, without dark transversal bands, Costal (C), Radial (R), and first cubital (1Cu) cells fully enclosed by pigmented veins; first medial cell (1M) enclosed by pigmented veins; second radial 1 (2R1) and second cubital (2Cu) cells open, apical part of 2r-rs&Rs vein 1.3 × longer than basal part; hind wing hyaline.

Legs ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ). Profemur 3.7 × as long as wide; protibia 3.8 × as long as wide; metatibia 7.9 × as long as wide (maximum breadth); hind outer spur short, approximately 0.4 × as long as inner spur; tibial spurs formula 1/2/2.

Metasoma ( Figs 5G–5H View FIGURE 5 ). Petiole short, metasomal tergum smooth, shiny, and covered with minute setae.

Genitalia ( Fig. 6D View FIGURE 6 ). With long dorsal membranous process of paramere, apically process with numerous short bristles.

Colour. Head, mesosoma and metasoma testaceous-brown ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ); antenna testaceous ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ); metanotum, petiole, and legs yellow ( Figs 5A, 5F–5G View FIGURE 5 ).

Female. Unknown.

Geographical distribution ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7 ). Iran (Western Palaearctic subregion) ( Chény et al. 2020).

Distribution inside the Middle East ( Fig. 8A View FIGURE 8 ). Iran, Tehran province (Central Persian desert basins ecoregion) ( Olmi 1997).

Host. Unknown.

Similar species. This species is resembling Embolemus harteni Olmi ( Table 2 View TABLE 2 ).

Type status. In addition to the pinned specimen and its labels, there are two glass microscope slides, one includes the wings and the other the genitalia ( Fig. 5K View FIGURE 5 ). Type specimen is glued to the card on its ventral side, so it was impossible to get an image of the head from a ventral perspective. Head is detached from the body. The last two right antennomeres are broken off but glued on card point. The right both fore and hind wings fell down and they are mounted on the wing slide.
