T y p e m a t e r i a l: Holotype: ♁. Type locality: Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul. San Francisco de Paula, Pró-Mata , 11-XI-1998, baited window trap (EtOh), Leg. Roland Mecke ( MCNZ) , Paratype: 1 specimen. BRAZIL: Estado do Rio Grande do Sul ; San Francisco de Paula, Taimbézinho ,?- XI-1960, K. E. Hüdepohl ( WOPC, 1) .
D i a g n o s i s: Mostly black; antennae legs testaceous; each elytron with four testaceous markings.
D e s c r i p t i o n: Size: Length 7.0 mm; width 1.0 mm. Form: As in Fig. 43 View Figs 41-44 . Head: (EW/FW 20/45). Thorax: Pronotal and elytral discs minutely punctate; (PL/PW 95/95); (EL/EW 240/65). Abdomen: Aedeagus (Fig. 95).
E t y m o l o g y: The species name, octavus, constitutes a noun in apposition.
