Material examined: Holotype ECOSUR 0 0 42 (1) Off Punta Herradura (18°32’23’’N 87°44’32’’W), 28 Sep. 1996.

Description: Specimen incomplete, with 82 segments, 11 mm long; thorax 2.0 mm long, 0.5 mm wide. Tentacular membrane reduced. Eyespots aranged in two lateral groups of 2–3 small, and dark brown eyespots. Upper lip spoonlike, projecting forwards. Lower lip swollen, and wrinkled. Eleven short ventral shields, starting from segment 1. Anterior shields rectangular and thin, square and ventrally depressed from segment 5. Notopodia from segment 4–19 segments. Chaetae of two types; bilimbate capillary, on segment 4–9, all of the same length on segment 4 and 5, and of two sizes on segment 6–9; and spinosphaera chaetae, in two sizes within each notopodium, from segment 10–19; spinosphaera chaetae denticulate, neck as wide as the base of the chaeta; middle region bulbous, concave, spinous, as wide as 1.5 the base of the chaeta; basal region without any limbation. Short spinosphaera chaeta as long as the neck of the longest chaetae; with spinous region more swollen. Neuropodia from segment 5 and present until near to pygidium. Uncini arranged in single rows from segment 5–10; in double rows from segment 11–75, in face to face position, in single rows from segment 76 to 82. Thoracic and abdominal uncini small, similar to each other, with rounded upper subrostrum, with well developed subrostral process; lower subrostrum narrow and convex, without posterior process; basis convex, with heellike posterior process, both anterior and posterior filaments absent; with short neck; With dental formula MF:3:3–4: 6–7 in both thoracic and abdominal uncini. Pygidium small, with up to 5 anal papillae.

Remarks: This is a rare species. The description above was based on the only specimens collected, although the area has been extensively sampled over several years. A more complete description, with SEM pictures, is provided in the original description ( LondoñoMesa, 2003).
