Type:— MADAGASCAR. Massif de l’Ankaizniana, on old stump of tree in a humid mountain forest at 1500 m alt., leg. M. Decary (PC).
For a descriptions and illustrations of Madagascar material, refer to Antonín & Buyck (2006). Material from collection M. Decary (PC) was unavailable for sequencing. It should be noted that M. sulcatipes Pat. (1924) is an illegitimate name, a later homonym of Marasmius sulcatipes Murrill [N.Amer. Fl. (New York) 9(4): 259. 1915], a species described from Cuba now recognized as belonging to the genus Gymnopus .
