Material examined. COLOMBIA: Antioquia • 1 work- er; Amalfi; 06°55′00″N, 075°04′00″W; alt. 1010 m; 27 Oct. 1997; F. Sernaleg.; UNAB 5452 GoogleMaps .

Identification. Posterolateral cephalic corner with clearly distinct spine; mid-pronotal teeth present and separated from each other at the base; third pair of me- sonotal spines distinct; and metasternal lamina dorsally rounded (unpublished key by Kempf).

Distribution. Paratrachymyrmex phaleratus was previ- ously recorded in Guyana and Venezuela ( Wheeler 1925; Mayhé-Nunes and Jaffé 1998), thus our new record for Colombia expands the geographic range of the species to the northwest Andean mountains ( Fig. 1D View Figure 1 ).
