Identification. Mesosoma completely unarmed, propodeum in profile evenly rounded; and petiolar node in dor- sal view strikingly transverse, thrice as broad as long ( Kempf 1965).
Distribution. Cyphomyrmex laevigatus is widely distributed in northern South America, including Bolivia, north- ern Brazil (Amazonas, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará, and Rondônia), Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Perú and Ven- ezuela ( Mayhé-Nuñes and Jaffé 1998; Souza et al. 2018).
