Diagnosis. Female: dorsal idiosomal shield smooth throughout; bearing 17 pairs of setae, all (except Z4 and Z5) smooth, Z5 lightly serrated and bluntly tipped; j1 and j3 subequal in length but shorter than s4 and Z4; s4 and Z4 subequal, Z5 whip-like and about four times as long as Z4; other setae minute. Sternal shield and epigynal shield smooth. Peritremes extending forward to bases of j1. Ventrianal shield vase-shaped, smooth, bearing three pairs of pre-anal setae, solenostomes gv3 posterior to JV2. Calyx of spermathecal apparatus narrow and short, flaring abruptly and expanded terminally, atrium slightly wider than proximal section of cervix, major duct elongate and tubular. Cheliceral movable digit with four teeth, fixed digit with 12–13 teeth. Legs I, II, III and IV with obvious macrosetae.

Specimens examined. Rarotonga: Tevas Villa, 5 females, ex. palm leaves, 23 October 2017, by Q.-H. Fan; Rarotonga, 3 females (labelled on slide as “ Amblyseius philipsi ”), ex. beans (#92-160), associated with broad mite, 25 May 1992, by J. G. Charles (#92-100).

Remarks. This species was originally described from Citrus sinensis in Fiji and Terminalia sp. and an unknown tree in Rarotonga ( McMurtry & Moraes 1984). It is also known from Hawaii ( Denmark & Evans 2011) and the Wallis and Futuna Islands ( Schicha 1987).
