Type locality. — Indonesia, W Sumatra, Mentawai Islands, Siberut.

Type material.— Holotype ♂ from the type locality, Muarasiberut, lowland rainforest, in leaf litter , 15-20.viii. 1995, P. Beron and T. Ivanova; paratypes: 2 ♀, same data as holotype. Holotype and 1 ♀ paratype in NMNHS.

Diagnosis.— S. beroni is distinct from S. pongorum by small but consistent differences in the genital organs: the anterior, distal lobe of the embolus is more curved and broader, the proximal, middle lobe is also wider; no differences were observed in the tibial apophysis. In the epigyne, the lateral coiled structures are not bifid as in pongorum and the folds and coils in the centre are smaller and less voluminous. Carapace with more pronounced dark radiating marks than in pongorum .

Description. — MALE. Total length 1.85 mm. Carapace length 0.90 mm, width 0.70 mm, height 0.25 mm, head width 0.40 mm, width eye region 0.20 mm; abdomen 0.85 mm long, 0.60 mm wide. Leg lengths: leg I 2.85 mm (0.90-1.05-0.55-0.35), leg II 2.40 mm (0.70- 0.85-0.45-0.40), leg III 2.15 mm (0.60-0.70-0.45-0.40), leg IV 3.00 mm (0.80-0.95-0.70- 0.55), palp 0.30-0.15-0.15+apophysis 0.10-0.35 mm. Colouring of carapace, mouthparts, legs and abdomen as in S. pongorum , markings of carapace more pronounced. PME small and colourless, juxtaposed to PLE. Leg spination: femora I, II and IV with 1 short dorsal spine proximally, femur I with 0-1 pd, tibia I with a row of 6pv, 7rv, tibia II with 5pv, 6rv, metatarsi I and II with 2- 2v. Palp fig. 694 View Figs 691 - 693 , distal half of femur ventrally with slight impression, tibia as in pongorum , differences see diagnosis.

FEMALE. Total length 2.20 mm. Carapace length 0.95 mm, width 0.80 mm, head width 0.40 mm, width eye region 0.20 mm; abdomen 1.15 mm long, 0.65 mm wide, epigyne 0.30 mm wide.
