Type locality. supra San Mateo, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands.
Holotype: 1„, Spring 1858, mountains above San Mateo, leg. Wollaston [S. Mateo] [Type] [ sulcirostris, Woll. ]. MNH, London.
Remarks. Marseul (1872, p 537) proposed the substitution name Laparocerus canalirostris , which is an unjustified replacement name. Lona (1938, p 439) places both names, sulcirostris and canalirostris , as synonyms of L. subopacus Wollaston, 1865 . This is an obvious error.
