Type locality. La Fortaleza and Cumbre of Orotava , Tenerife, Canary Islands .

Lectotype: 1„, Tenerife (white), May 1859, La Fortaleza or Cumbre of Orotava, leg. Wollaston. (ex litt.). NHM, London. Paralectotypes: 10 exx, same data. NHM, London. 12 exx, same data [Hope Entomological/Collections/Wollaston Coll.] [ Laparocerus / crassifrons Woll. ]. UMO, Oxford. 4 exx, MNHN (Coll. Oberthür-Wollaston), Paris.

Remarks. On the mounting label there is no reference to which of the two localities, mentioned by Wollaston, belongs the lectotype: ‘‘…the elevated Cumbre adjoining the Cañadas, above Ycod el Alto’’ (5La Fortaleza), and ‘‘…on the opposite Cumbre, above the Agua Mansa’’ (5Cumbres de La Orotava). Both are ecologically equivalent.
