( Figs. 54–61 View FIGURES 51–61 )

Taeniothrips alliorum Priesner, 1935: 128 View in CoL .

Female macroptera. Body uniformly dark brown; antennal segment III yellow often with apex slightly darker; fore wings pale, or barely shaded with base pale; all femora dark brown, fore tibia brownish yellow with outer margin darker, mid and hind tibiae dark brown with apex pale, all tarsi brownish yellow; prominent body setae dark brown. Head ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 51–61 ) slightly constricted just behind compound eyes and straight at cheeks. Ocellar setae III outside ocellar triangle, posterolateral to fore ocellus, about twice as long as longitudinal diameter of hind ocellus. Postocular setae all small, setae I behind setal row. Antennae ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 51–61 ) 8-segmented, segment II without microtrichia, IV to VI pedicelate. Pronotum ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 51–61 ) weakly sculptured with transverse striae medially, with 22– 25 discal setae; posteroangular setae 2 pairs, setae I distinctly longer than setae II; posteromarginal setae 3 pairs, setae I the longest. Mesonotum with CPS anteromedially. Metascutum ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 51–61 ) sculptured with narrow spaced longitudinal striae having small lines between striae medially; median pair of setae far from anterior margin; CPS absent. Fore wing first vein with six or seven basal and three distal setae. Abdominal tergites V to VII ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 51–61 ) with lines of sculpture slightly extending to mesad of S1 setae; tergite II with 3 lateral marginal setae; tergite VIII ( Fig. 58 View FIGURES 51–61 ) without fine long posteromarginal comb, but small scattered microtrichia and small scallops present; tergite IX with two pairs of CPS; sternite I with a few microsetae anteromedially; sternites III to VII with 10–14 discal setae arranged in irregular line; sternite VII ( Fig. 59 View FIGURES 51–61 ) with S1 setae much far from posterior margin; pleurotergites with a few discal setae and without ciliate microtrichia.

Male microptera. Body colour slightly paler. Abdominal sternal discal setae fewer. Abdominal tergite IX ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 51–61 ) with S1 setae much anterior to level of S2 setae and arranged in transverse line with MD setae, subequal in length to S2 setae; sternites III to VII ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 51–61 ) each with a large oblong pore plate.

Distribution. Japan (Honshu, Kyushu, Ryukyus), China, Korea, Hawaii, Taiwan.
