Neallodia Edwards View in CoL View at ENA

Neallodia Edwards 1932: 146 View in CoL . Type-species, N. flavida Edwards View in CoL (mon.).

N. brevicornis (Enderlein) 1910a: 204 View in CoL ( Allodia View in CoL ). Type-locality: Brazil, Santa Catarina. Ref.— Lane 1958b: 154 (as a Cordyla species ); Tumikoski 1966: 192 (as a Neoallodia [sic] species). Holotype ♀, PAN.

( Figure 210 View FIGURES 200–213 )

Notes. An identified specimen from Paraguay was examined for the question of its conspecificity with N. flavida .

The specimen from Paraguay is clearly darker in the mesonotum and in the pleural sclerites than the type of N .

flavida.

N. flavida Edwards 1932: 146 View in CoL . Type-locality: Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Petrópolis. Ref.— Lane 1958b: 154 (as a junior synonym of N. brevicornis (Enderlein) View in CoL , in the genus Cordyla View in CoL ); Tuomikoski 1966: 192 (as a Neoallodia [sic] species). Holotype ♀, NHM. Revalidated.

N. BRASILIANA (Lane) 1947: 448 View in CoL , figs. 1 (wing), 2 (♂ terminalia) ( Trichonta View in CoL ). Type-locality: Brazil, São Paulo, São Paulo (Ipiranga). Ref.— Lane 1958b: 154 (as a junior synonym of N. brevicornis (Enderlein) View in CoL , in the genus Cordyla View in CoL ); Tuomikoski 1966: 192 (as a Neoallodia [sic] species). Holotype ♀, MZUSP.

( Figure 211 View FIGURES 200–213 )

Notes. The type series included only the female holotype. The holotype has the following labels: “Wiltuschnig [pr] / XI-29 [hw] / Petrópolis [pr]” // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “ Neallodia / flavida Edw. [hw] / F.W. Edwards / det. 1931” // “ HOLOTYPE [pr] / Neallodia / flavida [hw] / Edwards / det. J.E. Chainey, 1995” // “BMNH(E) # / 254485”. The specimen is in excellent condition. The synonymy of this species with N. brevicornis (Enderlein) , as appears in the Neotropical catalogue ( Papavero 1978: 4), has not been properly justified and N. flavida is herein revalidated. The synonymy of N. flavida with N. brasiliana (Lane) is maintained until more material is available for confirmation. The NHM has two specimens of N. brasiliana (Lane) from Rio de Janeiro labeled as paratypes by John Lane, one of them with an additional label by Nigel P. Wyatt of “NO TYPE STATUS” (not referred to in the original description). The female paratype of N. brasiliana number is BMNH(E) # 254486.
