Mycomya (Calomycomya) Väisänen View in CoL

Mycomya (Calomycomya) Väisänen 1984: 256 View in CoL . Type-species: Sciophila pulchella Dzidzicki 1885 View in CoL (orig. des.).

M. ansata Freeman 1951: 38 View in CoL , figs. 33–25 (♂ terminalia). Type-locality: Argentina, Río Negro, Bariloche. Holotype ♂, NHM.

( Figure 144 View FIGURES 143–151 )

Notes. The type series included the male holotype and thirty-one male paratypes, of which the holotype and twenty-nine paratypes are at the NHM, two of which the terminalia dissected. The labels with the holotype are: “ Mycomya / ansata [hw] / Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // [male terminalia on a microslide attached to an acetate sheet] // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Lago Correntoso. / 6–7.xi.1926.” // “ Argentina: / Terr. Río Negro. / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 257495”. The holotype is in excellent condition. The paratypes are numbered (BMNH(E) # 257496-524). Females of M. basinerva , M. ansata and M. funebris could not be discerned from each other by Freeman (1951: 38).

M. basinerva Freeman 1951: 37 View in CoL , figs. 29–32 (♂ terminalia), 80 (midcoxal process). Type-locality: Argentina, Río Negro, Bariloche. Holotype ♂, NHM.

( Figure 145 View FIGURES 143–151 )

Notes. The type series included the male holotype and sixteen male paratypes. The holotype labels are: “ Mycomya / basinerva [hw] / Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // [male terminalia on a microslide attached to an acetate sheet] // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Lago Correntoso. / 25–28.xi.1926.” // “ Argentina: / Terr. Río Negro. / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 257477”. The holotype is in fairly good condition, with one mid- and one hindlegs missing, and one of the wings with the membrane damaged. There are 17 male paratypes (which is inconsistent with the description), with collection numbers BMNH(E) # / 257478-94 .

M. funebris Freeman 1951: 38 View in CoL , figs. 36–37. Type-locality: Chile, Chiloé , Ancud. Holotype ♂, NHM.

( Figure 146 View FIGURES 143–151 )

Notes. The type series included the male holotype and one male paratype. The labels with the holotype are: “ Mycomya / bifida [hw] / Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // [male terminalia on a microslide attached to an acetate sheet] // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Ancud / 17–19.xii.1926.” // “S. Chile: / Chiloé I. / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 257525”. The holotype is not in very good condition. One leg and the abdomen are glued to the micropin base; the terminalia is mounted on a separate base. The paratype is not dissected and is in good condition .

M. valdiviana (Philippi) 1865: 624 . Type-locality: Chile, Corral. Type?, MNHN.

( Figure 147 View FIGURES 143–151 )

Notes. Philippi’s types are lost. Identified specimens from different parts of Chile were used by Freeman for the redescription of the species .
