This species was described from a single male from Ridgeway, Tasmania, collected 3 September 1916. Despite Beyer’s statement that this holotype is in the ‘National Museum of Victoria, Melbourne’ it seems that he failed to return it to Melbourne and its current whereabouts is unknown .

Male, Tasmania, Fern Tree, Grays Road , 147°15∞E, 42°57∞S (grid ref. 203474), 540 m altitude, 5 August 2000 ( R. H. L. Disney —25-41) .
