Type information. Holotype male, China: Jilin Province, Yalu River , 1914. V.

Remarks. Only female of this species is known, characterized by a broad and rounded subgenital plate, covering most part of sternum 9 ( Fig. 1M ; see fig. 5 in Wu & Claassen 1934). However, this character is common in Isoperla and the male needs to be associated and described. The female holotype is lost ( Wu 1962). Color pattern: head pale, with a dark spot covering the three ocelli; pronotum dark brown, with a broad pale median stripe and with pale lateral margins; legs pale; ventral surface of body pale ( Wu & Claassen 1934). Isoperla sowerbyi was considered a synonym of I. lunigera by Zwick (1973b, c). Neotypes need to be designated to support this conclusion.
