Remarks. The species has a scattered known distribution throughout western, central and eastern Africa ( Lorenz 2021, Shi & Liang 2023). The species has been misidentified as P. ferruginea (Chaudoir, 1878) in previous works (e.g., Basilewsky 1955; Serrano 2009a). Recently, Shi & Liang (2023) clarified the external morphologic characters of the Parena (Parena) plagiata group ( P. ferruginea , P. plagiata Motschulsky, 1864 and P. africana ), allowing the segregation of these species. The adult specimens recorded in Serrano (2009a) as P. ferruginea and the recent specimens match very well with P. africana , including the aedeagus. Taking this into account, C. ferruginea must be excluded from the known entomofauna of Guinea-Bissau. The adult specimens were sampled by LT within open secondary forests (Contuboel, Coli, Banhinda) or semi-humid forests (P.N.L. Cufada) at the beginning of the wet season. See also the syntopic species/subspecies for the 2009 field localities ( Table 1 View TABLE 1 ). It is a new species record for the CAC Administrative Region, Guinea-Bissau.
