Description. External characters. Head, thorax and tegulae dark-grey. Labial palpi thin, straight, equal to longitudinal eye diameter in length. Antennae with alternating black and light-grey segments. Wingspan 22–25 mm, in holotype 25 mm. Fore wings grey, with poorly differentiated pattern. Oblique dark-grey stroke in front of cleft, indistinct. Hind wings unicolorous, light-grey. Fringe on both wings grеy. Hind legs light-grey, with portions of dark-brown scales at base of spurs.
Male genitalia. Uncus simple, apically narrowed. Valves asymmetric. Saccular process at base of left valve small, narrow, approximately equal to uncus in length. Internal process in middle part of valves triangular, distinct. Anellus arms unequal, right arm wider and slightly longer than left arm. Saccus arched. Aedeagus slightly curved inwards.
Diagnosis. In the male genitalia, the species is similar to Hellinsia falsus (Barnes & Lindsey, 1921) and Hellinsia griseopuncta Gielis, 2014 , in the shape of the saccular process on the left valve, but it clearly differs from the latter in the internal process on both valves, an asymmetric structure of anellus arms, and different coloration of imago wings.
Flight period: January, February, November.
Distribution: Ecuador.
Etymology: The species is named after the Quechua, Indian people.
