Discussion
The fauna of Pterophoridae in Ecuador remains the best studied of all the countries of South America. To date, 146 species are known. For example, only 56 species are known from neighboring Colombia, which is four times larger than Ecuador ( Landry & Gielis 2022). Despite a considerable list of Pterophoridae species known from Ecuador, it does not provide a complete picture of the regional fauna. At present, more than a dozen female specimens remain unidentified, and it is still difficult to identify them to species. Species marked with* are recorded here for the first time for Ecuador.
