Bactrodes femoratus ( Fabricius, 1803) View in CoL

Bactrodinae View in CoL comprises only the genus Bactrodes Stål View in CoL , with five described species ( Maldonado 1990; Coscarón & Melo 2003). Coscarón & Melo (2003) revised the subfamily and gave a key to separate the species. The genus has been recorded from Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Guyana, French Guiana, Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina ( Maldonado 1990; Villiers 1971; Coscarón & Melo 2003). B. femoratus View in CoL is commonly found on Aciotis laxa (Melastomataceae) View in CoL in French Guiana ( Bérenger & PluotSigwalt 1997).

In Colombia, only B. spinulosus View in CoL has been recorded ( Coscarón & Melo 2003). The specimens listed below are a new species record from Colombia. The specimen examined from Cali was completely green when alive, and it was found preying on Chaetocnema View in CoL sp. ( Coleoptera View in CoL : Chrysomelidae View in CoL ). No field prey information was previously known for any of the species of the genus.
