OXYAENOIDES MATTHES, 1967

Emended diagnosis (reformulated from

Lange-Badré & Haubold, 1990)

Proviverrine of large size characterized by a P 3 shorter than P 4, molars without metaconid, paraconid short and high on molars, protoconid narrow, increasing in size from M 1 to M 3, protoconid one-third taller than paraconid, postprotocristid developed in the upper part, a short and crestiform talonid, reduced on M 3, an M 1 longer and narrower than M 2, metacone taller and longer than paracone on M 1 and M 2, parastyle well developed, notably on M 2, metastyle as long as paracone and metacone, projected distally and underlined by a cingulum, connate paracone and metacone, and metaconule absent.

Francotherium Rich, 1971 (subjective junior synonym; this study).
