Diagnosis. Specimens of Taphura sauliensis can be distinguished by the transverse mark in the posterior pronotal ambient fissure split into three parts, lateral branches of the anal tube in males bifurcate at the terminus and angle towards the midline, and the notch in female abdominal sternite VII has a straight lateral margin.
Distribution. The species is currently known from Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru, Trinidad & Tobago, and Venezuela ( Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2013; 2017a; 2020a, b, d, e; 2023a).
