Diagnosis. Among the congeners, the female of the species is similar to E. atrata , but differs in the following: 1) epigynal plate relatively smooth from ventral view, but with obviously hollow in E. atrata ; 2) spermathecae spherical and much bigger, while oval-shaped in E. atrata ; 3) copulatory ducts much longer and thinner, which relatively short in the latter. The male is similar to E. wenxianensis Yang & Tang, 1979 , but can be distinguished from the latter by: 1) distal half part of embolus suddenly broaden, while whip-shaped in E. wenxianensis ; 2) tip of RTA stout, while tip sharp in E. wenxianensis ; 3) palpal cymbium and tibia with dense long white hairs, while absent white hairs in the latter.

Description. Male. Total body length 3.29–3.62; one specimen measured (from Qingliang Mountains), body length 3.62; cephalothorax length 1.86, width 1.33; abdomen length 1.73, width 1.30. Carapace ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 12 – 18 ) dark brown. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.40, ALE 0.26, PME 0.07, PLE 0.19; AERW 0.90, PERW 1.00, EL 0.90. Clypeal height 0.07, dark brown with sparse brown hairs. Chelicerae red brown, with 2 promarginal teeth and 1 four-cuspid retromarginal fissident. Labium length 0.25, width 0.27. Sternum length 0.75, width 0.58. Legs brown with conspicuous yellow annuli; leg measurements: leg I 3.25 (1.00, 0.61, 0.68, 0.51, 0.45); II 3.00 (0.97, 0.56, 0.57, 0.48, 0.42); III 3.31 (1.08, 0.54, 0.62, 0.61, 0.46); IV 3.70 (1.13, 0.48, 0.76, 0.82, 0.51). Leg formula: 4312. Abdomen oval, longer than wide; dark brown dorsally with light yellow chevron-like markings. Two thirds of the palpal cymbium basally and tibia distally densely covered long white hairs, palp yellowish brown; RTA relatively long and finger-like with a small cusp near the tip, embolus relatively wide and spiraled on the top of bulb from ventral view ( Figs. 16–18 View FIGURES 12 – 18 , 19–20 View FIGURES 19 – 22 ).

Female. Total length 3.56–3.83; one female measured, body length 3.83: cephalothorax length 1.77, width 1.26; abdomen length 2.02, width 1.49. Carapace ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 12 – 18 ) dark brown. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.38, ALE 0.23, PME 0.04, PLE 0.22; AERW 0.84, PERW 0.93, EL 0.96. Clypeal height 0.05. Labium length 0.22, width 0.24. Sternum length 0.71, width 0.55. Leg measurements: leg I 2.81 (0.87, 0.54, 0.59, 0.45, 0.36); II 2.57 (0.81, 0.52, 0.47, 0.42, 0.35); III 3.05 (0.92, 0.47, 0.60, 0.60, 0.46); IV 3.17 (1.03, 0.49, 0.43, 0.81, 0.41). Leg formula: 4312. Other characters as in male. Epigyne ( Figs. 14 View FIGURES 12 – 18 , 21 View FIGURES 19 – 22 ): epigynal window occupying about three fourths of epigynal plate, with a very narrow median septum; copulatory openings located each sides of the median septum anteriorly. Vulva ( Figs. 15 View FIGURES 12 – 18 , 22 View FIGURES 19 – 22 ): copulatory ducts relatively long; spermathecae oval and located within the window.

Type material. Holotype female (collected from Hui-Sun experimental Forest station, Nanto County, Taiwan, April 1988, Hai-xin Wu leg.), deposited in the Zoology Department, National Museum of Natural History, Taichung, Taiwan (NMNH-THU-Ar-00-0037); not examined.

Materials examined. 1 male, 1 female, China, Anhui Province, Qingliang Mountains (N 30º08', E 118º44'), Yezhutan, 4 June 2013, Shanjie Zha leg.; 2 males, 2 females, China, Fujian Province, Wuyi Mountains, Moshikeng (N 27º59', E 118º13'), 4 June 2013, Chi Jin leg.
