Prodorsal shield subtriangular, 40 (38–42), 60 (58–63) wide; shield lobe anteriorly emarginate; median line short at base and connected with admedian lines with transverse lines, admedian and submedian lines complete. Scapular tubercles near rear margin, 26 (24–27) apart, scapular setae (sc) 28 (25–33) projecting forward. Coxal plates smooth; anterolateral setae on coxisternum І (1b) 11 (11–12), 12 (11–12) apart, proximal setae on coxisternum І (1a) 26 (23–31), 12 (11–12) apart, proximal setae on coxisternum І (2a) 48 (46–55), 37 (35–38) apart. Prosternal apodeme 8 (8–9). Legs with usual series of setae. Leg І 43 (41–45), femur 13 (13–14), basiventral femoral seta (bv) 17 (15–18); genu 7 (7–8), antaxial genual seta (l'') 31 (30–32); tibia 12 (12–13), paraxial tibial seta (l') 13 (13–14), located 1/3 from proximal tibial margin; tarsus 7 (7–8); tarsal empodium simple, 8-rayed, tarsal solenidion tapered. Leg І 37 (35–39), femur 12 (11–12), basiventral femoral seta (bv) 16 (14–17); genu 5 (5–6), antaxial genual seta (l'') 13 (13–14); tibia 9 (8–9); tarsus 7 (7–8); tarsal empodium simple, 8-rayed, tarsal solenidion tapered. Opisthosoma: opisthosoma dorsally with 40 (40–44) annuli, evenly rounded, with rounded microtubercles projecting posteriad from the rear annular margin, ventrally with 81 (76–84) annuli, with round microtubercles on rear annular margin. Setae c2 15 (15–16) on ventral annulus 12 (12–15), 72 (70–73) apart; setae d 58 (50–63) on ventral annulus 32 (31–33), 51 (50–53) apart; setae e 38 (35–46) on ventral annulus 46 (46–50), 30 (28–30) apart, setae f 30 (29–30) on 6th ventral annulus from rear, 22 (22–23) apart. Setae h1 3 (3–4). Female genitalia 23 (22–25), 30 (29–30) wide, coverflap smooth, setae 3a 28 (25–30), 21 (20–21) apart.

MALE: Unknown.

Type material. Holotype, female, from Quercus sp. ( Fagaceae ), Zhuque Mountain, Jilin City, Jilin Province, China, 2 July 2006, coll. Xiao-Feng Xue and Zi-Wei Song. Paratypes, 5 females with the same data as holotype.

Relation to host. Vagrant on leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.

Etymology. The specific designation jilinensis is from the name of the location, Jilin Province, where the new species was collected.

Differential diagnosis. This species is the second Brevulacus species described, and is similar to B. reticulatus Manson, 1984 , but can be differentiated from the latter by median line short on prodorsal shield (median line complete in B. reticulatus protogyne female), dorsal annuli with rounded microtubercles projecting posteriad from the rear annular margin (dorsal annuli with faint microtubercles on rear annular margin in B. reticulatus protogyne female), and dorsal opisthosoma evenly rounded (dorsal opisthosoma with weak central ridge and subdorsal ridges in B. reticulatus ).
