Pterygosoma phillipsi Jack, 1962 ( Figs 73 View FIGURE 73 and 74 View FIGURE 74 )
Pterygosoma phillipsi Jack, 1962: 597 , fig. 15
Type host: Acanthocercus phillipsii (Sauria: Agamidae ). Type locality: Somalia (Berbera).
Redescription. FEMALE (based on holotype from Acanthocercus phillipsii ). Gnathosoma . Chelicerae about 110 long (basal swollen part longer than slender distal part). Fixed cheliceral digit as in Fig. 73C View FIGURE 73 , 10 View FIGURE 10 long. Setae dF and dG 45 and 50 long, respectively. Palpal tibia with short claw; palpal tarsi with 3 setae. Subcapitulum with filiform setae n, 15 long. Peritremes about 145 long. Hypostome with smooth rounded apex, 165 long. Idiosoma 535 long and 1015 wide. Dorsum with about 30 pairs of anterior serrate setae, about 20 long; 2 pairs of slightly apically expanded setae, 65–80 long, situated laterally, and 2 pairs of filiform dorso-median setae dm1 and dm2, about 15 long. Peripheral series represented by 16 pairs of setae, 80–100 long. Eyes present. Venter with filiform ventro-median setae vm1–vm3. Genital slit situated terminally. Genital series represented by 1 pair of spine-like setae g1, about 10 long, situated ventrally. Pseudanal series represented by 5 pairs of setae ps1–ps5, 30–40 long. Setae ps1 and ps2 broader than ps3–ps5. Legs chaetotaxy as follows: setae of trochanters I–IV (1–1–1–1), femora I–IV (3–1–1–1), genua I–IV (3–?–1–1), tibiae I–IV (5–3–3–3). All setae on each podomere filiform, except for slightly serrate setae d’FI–IV. Setation of tarsi I−IV as in group B: I 12 setae (ft, tc’, tc”, p’, p”, a’, a”, it’, it”, u’, u”, vs’) and solenidion ω1; II 8 setae (tc’, p’, p”, a’, a”, u’, u”, vs’) and ω1; III and IV with 8 setae each (tc’, p’, p”, a’, a”, u’, u”, vs’). Setae tc’ of legs II–IV and a’, a”, u’, u”, vs’, vs ” of legs I–IV smooth.
Type material (examined). Female holotype ( NHM no. 1966.2.22.764) from Acanthocercus phillipsii (Bou- lenger) (Sauria: Agamidae ) ( NHM no. 1905.10.30.17 – 30), SOMALIA: Berbera District, Berbera, 30 October 1905, coll. G. W. Bury.
Type material deposition. Holotype deposited in the NHM.
Host and distribution. This species is known only from Acanthocercus phillipsii from Somalia [Berbera District, Berbera] ( Jack 1962a).
Remarks. Redescription of the holotype of P. phillipsi shows that five pseudanal setae are present vs. three pairs of setae ps in the original description ( Jack 1962a).
This species was described by Jack (1962a) based on one ‘type’ specimen therefore in accordance with Article 73.1.1 of the Internatonal Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN 1999, 2012) it is treated as a holotype.
