Diagnosis. Frontal triangle pale brown, lateral margins at most gently curved, interfrontals outside frontal triangle; gena as high as postgena, about one third eye height; head broader than long in dorsal view; post–pronotum with one–two bristles; long axis of eye diagonal; scutum less than twice as long as broad with five stripes dark and pale brown; katepisternum with ventral half dark brown, with some other thin dark markings on anepisternum, mesepimeron.

Material examined. Holotype. 3, Brazil, State of São Paulo, Campos do Jordão, 28.ix.1962, L.T.F., Papavero, Rabello, L. Silva & Zanettin. Paratypes. 3 3 and 1 Ƥ, same data as holotype, but 26.x.1962, L.T.F., L.T., Rabello & Dente ( MZUSP).

Description. Total length, 4 mm. Wing length, 5.3 mm.

Male. Head ( Figs. 6, 12 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Dark yellow, slightly wider than thorax, rather broader than long in dorsal view, longer than high in lateral view. Frontal triangle pale brown, margins at most gently curved, not reaching anterior margin of frons; occiput dark, bare; gena about 0.2 eye height; postgena about 0.45 eye height; eye rounded, long axis diagonal; clypeus yellow with a yellowish pair of spots; labella brown; palpus yellow. First flagellomere yellow, with pale brown spot at apex; arista dark yellow. One row of interfrontals external to frontal triangle; postocellars convergent; inner and outer verticals well–developed; one row of setulae at lower margin of gena; vibrissa weak. Thorax ( Figs. 18 View FIGURES 13 – 18 , 31 View FIGURES 31 – 33 ). Scutum almost twice as longer as broad, mainly yellowish, with two dark brown and three pale brown stripes, with dark pilosity; post–pronotum with a brown mark and two bristles; scutellum yellow. Pleura dark yellow, a dark brown mark dorsally on the notopleuron. Halter entirely dark yellow. Legs dark yellow; hind femur and tibia light brown; tibial organ pale yellow, elongated. Wing. Hyaline. Costal sections one to four: 19-18- 9-7. R2+3 and R4+5 slightly concave; R4+5 and M1+2 rather divergent; M1+2 straight; r-m and dm-cu rather divergent, distant each other 2.0 as long as dm-cu. Abdomen ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 31 – 33 ). Tergites and sternites light brown, yellowish along distal margin. Terminalia. Epandrium with long ventral projections ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 31 – 33 ); mesolobus reduced, weakly sclerotized; surstylus short partially fused to epandrium; hypandrium with fine apical extensions ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 31 – 33 ).

Female. As male.

Comments. There were two additional specimens with same data as holotype, but without abdomen. They were not included in the type-series.
