Redescription, male. Body length 7.1–10.3 mm, body width 2.6–3.7 mm. Body slender, shining, black (rarely brown in very small specimens), legs and antennae dark-brown (rarely light brown in small specimens). Head widest at level of eyes. Eyes large, convex. Ratio of head width at eyes to distance between eyes: 1.6. Genae strongly rounded only in basal half. Lateral margin of head between gena and clypeus without emargination or with very weak emargination. Punctation of head moderately coarse, dense (diameter of punctures 2 × as wide as distance between punctures), punctures round, merged near eyes. Antennae moderately long (reaching 1/4 of elytral length), with 4 apical antennomeres extending beyond base of pronotum, 1.25 × as short as elytra. Pronotum weakly cordiform, transverse (1.15–1.2 × as wide as long), widest before middle, 1.5 × as wide as head. Lateral margins weakly rounded, sinuate in base. Anterior margin straight or widely rounded; base weakly bisinuate. Anterior angles obtuse, narrowly rounded on apex; posterior angles rectangular or weakly obtuse, distinct on apex. All margins narrowly beaded. Disc moderately convex, narrowly flattened near posterior angles. Punctation of disc the same as on head laterally and sparser in middle (diameter of punctures subequal to distance between punctures). Wings as long as elytra; imago not flying. Elytra subparallel, visibly elongated (1.8 × as long as wide), widest at middle, 1.3 × as wide and 2.7 × as long as pronotum, 1.9 × as wide as head. Strial punctures merged in entire deep furrows. Elytral intervals weakly convex, with sparse, distinct punctation and weak smooth tubercles on apex. Epipleural carinae completely visible dorsally; epipleuron not reaching sutural angles. Eighth intervals strongly convex apically, connected with edge of elytra (very rarely indistinct furrow visible between elytral margin and 8th interval). Epipleural carinae completely visible dorsally; epipleuron not reaching elytral apex. Ventral side bare. Abdominal ventrites also bare, with fine dense punctation. Ventrite 1 without hair brush; ventrite 5 without depression, completely beaded.

Legs moderately slender. Apical half of femora smooth on inner side. Pro- and mesotibiae curved, hatchetshaped, pubescent with very dense long hairs on inner side. Protibiae with some lines of teeth on inner side; metatibiae straight, without teeth; metatibia straight, without granules and teeth. Trochanters and inner basal side of femora with dense brush of yellow hairs.

Redescription, female. Body length 7–13 mm, body width 3.1–5 mm. Body more robust. Pronotum more transverse (1.3 × as wide as long). Antennae shorter (reaching 1/5 of elytral length), with 3 apical antennomeres extending beyond base of pronotum. Anal ventrite with transverse bracket-shaped weak depression. Only pro- and metatrochanters with hair brush; mesotrochanters with only one long hair.

Bionomics. The species is widespread in oak forests, and often feeds on lichens on Quercus ssp., Juglans , fruit trees, and is active from about 19:00 to 23:00.
