Diagnosis. Among its congeners, M. rufiventre comb. nov. is recognisable by its small size (5.2–6.5 mm), its entirely back elytra, its orange thoracic and abdominal ventrites, and by its puncture-associated pronotal texturing which is conspicuous when compared to the smooth pronota of several small undescribed Monilonotum species. Remarks. Gerstmeier (1990) provides a detailed description of ‘ Olesterus rufiventris ’.
