Genus Sericothrips Haliday View in CoL

Sericothrips Haliday, 1836: 444 View in CoL .

Sussericothrips Han, 1991: 208 –211 (Synonymized by Mound & Tree, 2009: 21).

Nine species are listed in this genus ( Mound & Tree, 2009; Mound, 2011). Most of these are based on micropterae ( Figs 19–20 View FIGURES 18 – 20. S ), but some from both micropterous and macropterous morphs ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 18 – 20. S ). These species have the abdominal terga completely covered with microtrichia medially (Fig. 6) ( Mound & Tree, 2009), whereas species in the other two genera have closely spaced rows of microtrichia only laterally on the abdominal terga (Figs 4–5). Species of Hydatothrips View in CoL have the metasternum with a median V-shaped apodeme (Figs 1–2), whereas this apodeme is T-shaped or Y-shaped in Neohydatothrips View in CoL (Fig. 3) and Sericothrips View in CoL ( Wang, 2007; Mound & Tree, 2009).
