HOLOTYPE: AMNH 691209 View Materials , adult male, collected on Fergusson Island , on 6 October 1894, by Albert S. Meek. From the Rothschild Collection.

COMMENTS: In the original description, Hartert cited the unique collection date of 6 October 1894 for the type specimen but did not say how many specimens he examined. There are four paratypes collected by Meek on Fergusson in 1894 now in AMNH: males, AMNH 691208 View Materials , 691210 View Materials , 5 View Materials and 22 October ; females, AMNH 691211 View Materials , 691214 View Materials , – September and 4 October .

On Fergusson, Meek (1913: 45, 58) had his base near Nade (Nadi in Meek, 1913), ca. 09.40S, 150.42E, on the southwest coast, and stayed there four months in 1894.
