sp. nov.

Ypsiloncyphon kedahensis sp. n.

( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 I, 11)

Type material. Holotype ( NMW): male, “ MALAYSIA 30.1.1992, Kedah NW Langkawi Ö Datei leg. Jäch (15)”, genit. s. no. HY 902.

Description. Male. Body ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 I) oval, slightly convex dorsally, shining, closely covered with yellowishwhite setae. Coloration of head and pronotum brown, but mesal part of pronotum darker; mouthparts, antennae and legs pale brown; scutellar shield, elytra and ventral part of body blackish-brown.

Head large, slightly convex dorsally, minutely granulate, front margin of clypeus shallowly concave. Eyes large, prominent; the distance between eyes about 2.1 times as long as the maximum diameter of an eye. Pronotum granulate as on head, slightly depressed in lateral parts; front margin straight; antero- and postero-lateral corners obtuse; lateral margins gently arcuate; posterior margin bisinuous; PW/PL 2.57. Scutellar shield small, equilaterally triangular. Elytra oval, widest at the middle, finely punctate; humeral parts lightly projecting dorsolaterally; apices right-angled; EL/EW 1.21; EL/PL 4.57; EW/PW 1.47; TL/EW 1.48.

Caudal margin of sternite VII ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 A) arcuate. Tergite VIII ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 B) lightly sclerotized, postero-lateral corners projecting caudo-laterally, a pair of long and slender apodemes protruding from antero-lateral corners; a triangular projection projecting anteriorly from posterior margin, situated in center. Tergite IX ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 D) almost membranous, semicircular, with a pair of long and slender apodemes. Sternite VIII ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 C) lightly sclerotized, short, Y-shaped. Tegmen ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 E) long, well sclerotized, Y-shaped, bifid in apical 1/3, pointed at apices. Penis ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 F) long, well sclerotized, 1.5 times as long as tegmen; pala evenly tapered basally; parameroids plate-like, subparallel-sided, sparsely punctate, obtuse at apices; trigonium indistinct.

Female. Unknown.

Measurements. Male (n = 1): TL 1.95 mm; PW 0.90 mm; PL 0.35 mm; EW 1.32 mm; EL 1.60 mm.

Distribution. Malaysia (Peninsular).

Remarks. This species is related to Ypsiloncyphon garoensis sp. n. and Y. chiangmaiensis sp. n. in the penis with indistinct trigonium, but differs from them by the shapes of the tergite VIII, tegmen and penis.

Etymology. The species is named after the type locality.
