Leptostylus orbiculus was described based on at least two specimens (sex not informed) from Mexico (Veracruz) and Nicaragua (Chontales). Chemsak & Linsley (1970) designated a specimen from Nicaragua as lectotype. According to Bates (1880), “fasciculo centro-basali elevato [centrobasal tuft elevate]”, indicating the presence of a single centrobasal crest. Currently, this species is known from Mexico (Veracruz), Honduras, and Nicaragua ( Monné 2020).

Material examined. COSTA RICA (new country record), Cartago: Guayabo, Monumento Nacional , 7 km N Turrialba (09º58’22’’N / 83º41’51’’W), 1100 msnm, 4-5.IV.2000, J. Prena leg. ( SDPC) .
