( Figs. 21–22 View FIGURES 17 – 24 , 43)

Identification. Robust species, with long median horn on both clypeal apex and postfrons; base of clypeal horn broad (approximately 0.3 of clypeal width). Colour pattern basically constant, generally black; pronotal sides usually black, densely, strongly punctate; broad median area of pronotum usually plain (purplish-)red. Pronotum usually with pair of slight but distinct antediscal protrusions. Black colour of pronotum and elytra may be dark brown, and entirely black individuals were seen from east Java. Confusion with other Java species possible, certainly where unicolourous individuals occur (as just mentioned, then confusion with B. niger likely, which, aforementioned features aside, has very different genitalia). Clypeogenal angles without tubercle. Body length B. walshi usually 10–13 mm.

Comment. Bornean specimens similar to B. walshi with old labels were seen, reputedly coming from north Borneo, including Mt Kinabalu (SMTD ex Felsche, probably from a dealer)—these may have been mislabelled. Distribution. Indonesia: Java; north Borneo?
