Distribution. From Mexico to Guianas, southeastern Brazil, northern Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Trinidad, Jamaica, and Grenada. Occurs in almost all Brazil, but the states of Alagoas, Rio Grande do Norte, Sergipe, and Tocantins ( Reis et al. 2007).

Habitat. Inhabits a large diversity of habitats, from sub-tropical thorn forest to tropical rainforest and savannas, roost in places such as caves, tunnels, mines, hollow trees, and buildings ( Alvarez et al. 1991). We captured this species in the three localities (14 o 30’ 25.4” S, 46 o 43’ 51.5” W; 14 o 31’ 24.2” S, 46 o 47’ 5.5” W; and 13°46’ 17.03” S, 46° 37’ 30.44” W) and almost all habitat types sampled.

Voucher specimens. Four females – CHUNB 1173, 1241, 1252, and 1257; seven males – CHUNB 1160 View Materials , 1169 View Materials , 1192 View Materials , 1220 View Materials , 1247 View Materials , 1249 View Materials , and 1254 .
