Distribution. Guianas to southeastern Brazil. In Brazil this species has records in the states of Amapá, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Piauí, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo and in the Distrito Federal ( Reis et al. 2007). Recently ( Marinho-Filho et al. 2002) listed M. bennettii in the Cerrado biome, and voucher specimens are given obtained by Gregorin et al. (2008).

Habitat. Inhabits a great variety of tropical habitats and can be found near to disturbed areas, roosts in caves, mines, hollow logs, and culverts in colonies that rarely exceed 10 individuals ( Ortega & Arita 1997). We captured two specimens in a pasture field near to limestone outcrops in Alvorada do Norte, GO.

Voucher specimens. One adult female – CHUNB 1161 View Materials ; one adult male – CHUNB 1288 View Materials .
