Tonatia bidens (Spix 1823)

Distribution. From Northeast Brazil to northern Argentina and Paraguay. In Brazil it occurs in the states of Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pernambuco, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo ( Reis et al. 2007).

Habitat. Inhabits forest areas, being commonly found near rivers, lakes and swamps, being also found near outcrops ( Reis et al. 2007). Roosts in caves, mines, hollow logs, buildings, and culverts in colonies of up to 50 individuals. All our specimens were captured in a pasture field near to limestone outcrops (14 o 30’ 25.4” S, 46 o 43’ 51.5” W) in Alvorada do Norte, GO.

Voucher specimens. One adult female – CHUNB 1265 View Materials ; one adult male – CHUNB 1283 View Materials .
