COMMENT: In accordance with the provisions of Article 80 of the ICZN code, Panthera is used instead of Leo . Includes Linda ; see Corbet, 1978:184; but also see Hemmer, 1972, Mamm. Species, 20:1- 5, and Heptner and Naumov, 1972, [Mammals of the Soviet Union], Vol. 2(2):21 1. Van Gelder, 1977:13, included Panthera as a synonym of Felis . CAH prefers the use of Leo and does not agree with the interpretation of Article 80 of the ICZN code presented here.
