TYPE LOCALITY: "Northern part of the Pacific Ocean". U.S. S. R., Commander Isis., Bering Isl .

DISTRIBUTION: N. Pacific, from Hokkaido ( Japan) to S. California ( U.S.A.).

COMMENT: Type locality from Ognev, 1935, [Mamm. U.S. S.R., Adjac. Count.], 3:361; but see Heptner and Naumov, 1976, [Mammals of the Soviet Union], 2(3):718, who gave "E. coast of Kamchatka."
