TYPE LOCALITY: South Africa, Cape of Good Hope .
DISTRIBUTION: Africa, south of the Sahara; S. Arabian Peninsula.
COMMENT: Includes guardafuensis, senegalensis, dongolana, granti , neumanni, bella, pulchra, and ludia; see Schlawe, 1980, Faun. Abh. Staat. Mus. J. Tierk., Dresden, 7(15):147- 161. Rosevear, 1974:193, recognized senegalensis as a distinct species. See also comments under genetta .
