TYPE LOCALITY: U.S. S. R., Siberia, Tomsk Dist., N. of Tobolsk .

DISTRIBUTION: Ural Mtns, to Siberia, Kamchatka, Sakhalin ( U.S. S.R.); Mongolia; Sinkiang and N. E. China; N. Korea; Hokkaido ( Japan); originally west to N. Scandanavia and W. Poland.

COMMENT: May be conspecific with americana , martes, and melampus ; see Anderson, 1970, Acta Zool. Fenn., 130: 132; Hagmeier, 1961, Can.
