TYPE LOCALITY: Kenya, Mianzini, near Lake Naivasha .

DISTRIBUTION: C. Kenya; S. E. Uganda.

COMMENT: Rosevear, 1974:321, placed jacksoni in the genus Galeriscus ; but also see Kingdon, 1977:245; Sale and Taylor, 1970, J. East Afr. Nat. Hist. Soc., 28(2):10- 15; Coetzee, 1977, Part 8: 24. Kingdon, 1977, considered jacksoni conspecific with nigripes , as does PG; but also see Rosevear, 1974:322; Coetzee, 1977, Part 8:24, who noted skull and skin differences.
